Family tours in Croatia

Many of our trips are family-friendly, adventure holidays where you can cycle, take nice walks in nature, sea kayak, stand up paddle, swim and snorkel in the crystal blue sea, go rafting or sailing, explore picturesque places rich in history, discover Croatian gastronomy and much more.

Some of Meridien Ten trips are specific Family Adventures while others are suitable for families with children.  For families looking for an adventure travel holiday, many of our itineraries can be tailor made to suit your specific travel needs.

For example, our self-guided trips can have a little bit of extra support which is normally not included in the self-guided tour package. Van shuttles to avoid big climbs, additional nights in hotels (so you don’t have to pack and unpack), bikes that come equipped with child seats or tag along are some of the features that might help.

This June we had a family with two kids on a bike tour. Their itinerary was customized Summer Island Hopping tour with more days on Vis and Brač Islands included. Besides biking, they managed to have fun on the beach and explore hidden island treasures.

Being a parent is challenging enough (confirmed by full-time working mum of two little boys) and organizing a trip with kids may be a bit stressful. But, this is where Meridien Ten team can help. We take care of all the logistics – great local guides, accommodation, transportation and various activities so you can have a relaxed holiday even with the smaller kids.
When compared with some other world destinations, Croatia is very safe country. Quiet roads for cycling, no sea hazards (every now and then we do get strong winds, but this happens occasionally and we are aware of it), safe and marked trails for walking and hiking, low crime rate, local people speaking English (or at least, tend to speak English using body language). There are no double prices (local and tourist ones) and when you reach our islands the biggest issue is that you will have to give up your every day’s lifestyle and start to live the “pomalo” island life style, which means slowing down, taking things easy, relaxing, enjoying food and wine, great views, your company and activities. After all, you are on holiday!

Swimming is possible everywhere. There are no hazards such as sharks, jellyfish or strong rip currents. Croatia doesn’t have many sandy or pebbly beaches. The coastline is largely rocky, but you will find many hidden beaches and beautiful small bays, especially on the islands, where you can find your paradise even in the busy tourist season. If you are on a sailing boat, you can stop anywhere, relax and enjoy crystal clear sea.sea kayaking

Kids are usually not really interested in visiting museums and churches, so we adjust our tours and provide some quality time for them – a football stadium or swimming pool, a creative workshop or a local fisherman who will teach them how to catch the fish with a hook – are only some of the options. Give them paper and crayons, so they can draw what they have seen and experienced. They will have fun doing it and it will be a great memory from your vacation.

By taking kids on the trips we make them real citizens of the world, and they also gain travelling experience and create childhood memories for life.

Happy travels,

Snježana and Meridien Ten team!
